Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Club Membership Information 

Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Club is committed to upholding the terms and conditions of the Club Constitution and ensuring that our standards of service remain high.

Members and their visitors are requested to acquaint themselves with the Club By-laws, dress and local Rules.

Members in membership categories other than full are not permitted to play golf on Saturdays unless special permission is granted.

Soft spikes are compulsory.

Dress: Members, visitors and their guests are required to wear appropriate elegant casual dress while playing golf or in the Clubhouse. The following dress is prohibited: Jeans, shirts without collars, excessively short shorts, shoes without socks etc. However, smart casual jeans are permitted in the Main Bar. Club management are directed to maintain the correct standards of dress and their viewpoint represents that of the Club.

Guests: A member may introduce guests on any day with the exception of Saturdays where the prior approval of the Golf Director is required. This facility does depend upon Club commitments therefore tee times must be booked beforehand through the Golf Director. The regulation that all visitors to the Club must be correctly signed on by their host in the visitors Register situated within the Clubhouse is a legal requirement and not a Club rule.

Cellular phones: The use of cellular phones is prohibited on the Course except for outgoing calls of a security or medical nature.

Caddies:
(a) Only registered Caddies in uniform may be employed.
(b) Caddies are to be engaged only through the Caddies Master and are to be paid off immediately when play is concluded.
(c) Members are not to purchase golf balls on the courses.

Caddies Carts: Members using motorized golf carts are to observe the etiquette of the game paying particular attention not only to their own playing group but also the rest of the field. With the increasing use of Caddie Carts, members are required to strictly observe the following points when taking carts onto our courses:
(a)Carts are not under any circumstances permitted onto greens or green fringes or to be pulled across greens when moving to the next tee.
(b)Neither carts nor caddies with carts are permitted on or allowed to cross tees.

Playing Fees: Playing tickets are to be paid for before commencement of play. Members who have a composite membership must report to the Golf Cashier to register.

Players cutting in: Players starting from the 1st or 10th tee outside normal starting times must not cut in ahead of those who have completed playing 18th or 9th holes respectively unless the latter have signified their approval.
Members must be on the tee at least 7 minutes prior to their tee times. This rule is essential to ensure that play commences timeously.

Reciprocity between clubs is applicable only to Full Members and the terms of agreementare as follows:

(a) Reciprocity members are required to be in possession of a current introduction obtained from their club.
(b) Visits shall not exceed a total of more than 30 days in any one calendar year.
(c) Reciprocity members shall not be permitted to introduce other visitors, nor incur any debt.
(d) Reciprocity members shall be permitted to enter in to competitions other than trophy competitions reserved for member only
(e) Reciprocity is not available at Royal Durban Golf Club on Saturday afternoons.
